Launch day!
Ok, so I'm being mobilized in a couple of weeks.
I'm going back into the Army full time to help fight the global war on terrorism. I have over 28 years of service with 3 of them active duty (11B, 1/509th ABCT out of Vicenza, Italy) but so long ago their experience is just a dim memory now....
Now, a whole bunch of years later I'm on my way back to Active Duty with my unit and going to see what's new in this Army of One...
Wish me luck!

Is this where we get to see updates while you are away?
6/21/2005 11:37 AM
Ok, so what does this mean in English prz...
11B, 1/509th ABCT
Im thinking 11th Batalion, then I get lost LOL
6/21/2005 12:29 PM
LOL
that was all army code:
11b is the MOS for Infantry (Military Occupational Specialty)
1/509th was the 1st Battalion 509th Infantry
ABCT was the Airborne Battalion Combat Team. This "light" airborne battalion was the Initial Reaction Force (IRF) for Europe back in the 70's They were packed and on the runway waiting for Jimmy Carter to give the signal to "GO" when Idi Amin was acting up in Uganda back in 1976 (I wasn't there yet). Instead, the Israels went in and they made a movie about it, called "Seven days in Entebbe" if you like your history. :)

Hey Tim. Here I thought you would be called up during the Y2K thing.
You know I will be praying for you over there. Stay safe and I will look forward to your return. I will send over some beef jerkey for you so give address when you can.
6/22/2005 8:06 AM
Ummm, I should clarify something...
I was involuntarily mobilized, this is not a career change. :)
They've been telling us for a couple of years that it's not "if" we go, but "when" and my number just got called. We're taking a very large group of people from this area to do theater level logistics, with Iraq as the theater. We're going to relieve another like-unit that's been there for the last 18 months so they can get back to their civilian careers.

I think you should make a list of things that we can send you - like the beef jerky for example. Thats a GREAT idea!
Also, I think I can speak for all of your WoW/AC family, that you'll be in our thoughts and prayers. We're pullin for ya :-) Even though you'll have a lot of catching up to do when you get back lol Anyway - like someone else above said, Keep your head down, stay safe, keep us posted and come home soon. We'll miss you.
